Cookie Controls
Last updated: July 1, 2024
Ama Sora uses cookies sparingly. This page explains what cookies we set, what they do, and how you can control them. We believe in transparency about data collection, and we give you a genuine choice about whether to participate in our analytics.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser by websites you visit. They allow websites to remember information about your visit — such as your preferences or what's in your shopping cart. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by the website you're visiting) or "third-party" (set by other companies whose content appears on the website). Ama Sora uses only first-party cookies. We do not allow third-party cookies on our Site.
Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are necessary for the basic functioning of the Site. They cannot be disabled without breaking features.
- ama_sora_cookie_consent — Stores your cookie preference ("accepted," "declined," or unset). This cookie is necessary for the Site to remember your choice and stop showing the cookie banner on every page load. It persists until you clear your browser data. There is no expiration date set; the browser handles retention.
Analytics Cookies (Optional)
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our Site. They are optional — you can decline them using the cookie banner, and the Site will function perfectly without them.
- ama_sora_topic_views — If you accept analytics, this cookie stores a simple count of which sea-breeze topic pages you've visited during your session. It does not store your IP address, device information, or any personally identifiable data. The cookie is first-party only and is not accessible by any third party. We use this data in aggregate form to understand which topics are most popular — for example, whether more people read about sea-breeze mechanics or about coastal wards. This helps us prioritize future content.
What We Don't Use
We want to be explicit about what we don't do:
- No Google Analytics. We don't use GA or any Google tracking products.
- No Facebook Pixel. We don't track you for social media advertising.
- No advertising cookies. We don't display ads and have no need for ad targeting.
- No third-party analytics. All analytics data stays on our server. No third party sees it.
- No fingerprinting. We don't attempt to identify your device through browser characteristics.
- No cross-site tracking. Our cookies are scoped to ama-sora.com only.
How to Change Your Preference
When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner appears at the bottom of the page with two options: "Accept" and "Decline." Clicking "Accept" enables the analytics cookie. Clicking "Decline" leaves it disabled. Essential cookies function regardless of your choice.
If you want to change your preference after dismissing the banner, clear your browser cookies for ama-sora.com and refresh the page. The banner will reappear, allowing you to make a new choice.
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. All major browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies on a per-site basis. Consult your browser's help documentation for instructions.

What the Analytics Data Looks Like
We believe you should know exactly what we collect when you accept analytics. Here's a sample of the raw data:
{
"page": "/breeze-mechanics.html",
"topic": "mechanics",
"timestamp": "2024-08-15T14:32:00+09:00"
}
That's it. No IP address. No user ID. No device fingerprint. Just the page you visited, the topic category, and the time. We aggregate these records into daily counts like "mechanics page: 45 views today." We cannot identify individual visitors from this data, and we don't try to.
